Toyota stops sales of three cars

2024-06-05

According to Bloomberg, Japan has announced a moratorium on the delivery and sale of six vehicles currently on the market, including three Toyota models, further escalating a safety scandal involving some of the world's top automakers.

Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism said on June 3 that Toyota had submitted erroneous data in pedestrian safety tests of three new models, the Corolla Fielder, Corolla Axio, and Yaris Cross, and had used modified test cars in crash safety tests of four older models, including the Crown. Five automakers, including Honda and Mazda, were also found to have falsified or manipulated safety data when applying for certification.
