BYD Song L EV launched! Increase in equipment, not price, new "Eye of God" high-level intelligent driving system!

Starting with "Song L", I believe you will feel that BYD, which is good at "pragmatism", has begun to understand romance.

In BYD's Dynasty series, the Song series already has branches such as Song, Song MAX, Song Pro, Song PLUS, etc., and the positioning of Song L as a "B-class hunting SUV" is enough to reflect its difference.

On August 30, the 2024 Chengdu Auto Show officially opened, and the 2025 BYD Song L EV was officially launched on the media day of the auto show. The new car is built on the e-platform 3.0, equipped with the "Eye of God" advanced intelligent driving assistance system (top and second top configuration), as well as hard-core technologies such as CTB and Yunniang-C, and new exterior and interior color schemes.

In terms of price, the starting price of the new BYD Song L EV is the same as the first-generation version, and the price of the entire series ranges from $25,306 to $33,306.

Song L still continues the family's iconic dragon face design, but the difference is that the new car's front face has been decorated with vertical stripes, which further highlights the sportiness. In the dragon face design, every design element can be traced back to the dragon, and the addition of these "dragon whiskers" will make everyone know at a glance that Song L is a car with special significance.

The length, width, and height of Song L are 4840/1950/1560mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2930mm.

The size of Song L is very close to Han, but the wheelbase is 10mm longer than Han. With a smaller size and larger wheelbase, Song L gives people a feeling of "legs below the neck" and has a large wheel-to-length ratio.

By the way, with the help of the aerodynamic design throughout the body and the electric rear wing, the drag coefficient of Song L is only 0.255, which is not the best among many pure electric sedans, but it is excellent in the category of SUVs. For reference, the drag coefficient of the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV is 0.26.

Usually, the "L" in the tail logo of a car stands for the extended version, which is used to distinguish the standard wheelbase version from the long wheelbase version. In the early years, it was the German brands that first pioneered this. However, for Song L, L has more meanings, such as Light, which is inspired by light, Level, which represents multiple signature technologies, Luxury, which represents a sense of luxury, and Link, which represents digital technology.

Among the many Ls, the "L" in Level is more worthy of interpretation. After all, BYD enjoys a high reputation in the field of technology.

CTB battery-body integration technology is to further integrate the upper cover of the battery pack shell with the body, thus evolving into a "sandwich" structure for the entire vehicle. With the help of CTB technology, the battery pack is both an energy body and a structural component. The battery will no longer be a "baby" that requires special care but can be used to strengthen the body structure.

Yunni-C can adjust the damping by controlling the shock absorber solenoid valve, which can achieve step-less adaptive adjustment of damping. Compared with traditional passive suspension, Yunni-C has achieved a qualitative improvement in driving comfort.

While satisfying the ultimate comfort, it also takes into account the vehicle's controllability, breaking the limitation of the single adjustment of traditional passive suspension and achieving a perfect combination of comfort and controllability.

I believe everyone is familiar with CTB and Yunnian-C. Equipped with these two technologies at the same time, means this BYD is a model with certain sporty attributes.

Among the five models of Song L EV, the system power includes three versions: 150/230/380.

Among them, the top-of-the-line four-wheel drive model adopts a synchronous + asynchronous four-wheel drive architecture, with a power and torque of 380kW/670N·m, an acceleration time of 0-100km/h of only 4.3s, and a maximum speed of 201km/h.

Song L also uses a high-end suspension system, which is in the form of a front double wishbone + rear five-link. In the above, we briefly mentioned Yunnian-C, so let's expand on it here.

The Yunnian-C intelligent damping body control system can adjust the damping by controlling the shock absorber solenoid valve, which can achieve stepless adaptive adjustment of the damping, and its rate is in milliseconds. In addition to optimizing vibration filtering, Yunnian-C can also suppress the pitch of the body during braking.

In terms of the cockpit, Song L adopts a minimalist design style, and the official concept is called "dynamic interlaced aesthetics". Song L is equipped with blade batteries of two specifications: 71.8/87.04kWh, and the CLTC range has three specifications: 550/662/602km.

In terms of configuration, the entire Song L series is equipped with a 15.6-inch adaptive rotating floating Pad, a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument panel, a 3D panoramic transparent imaging system, four-zone voice interaction, full-scene intelligent voice (continuous conversation/visible and speak able/semantic association), a full-scene karaoke system, leather seats, 8-way electric adjustment of the driver's seat, ventilation + heating of the driver's seat, 6-way electric adjustment of the passenger seat, 50W mobile phone wireless fast charging in the front row (with air cooling), frameless doors, double-layer laminated soundproof glass (front windshield/front door), etc. All models support OTA upgrades.

In addition, the 2025 Song L EV's "Eye of God" advanced intelligent driving assistance system 100 can provide more than 30 functions such as driving assistance and parking assistance.
