The GAC Honda P7 is scheduled to be officially launched tomorrow night (April 15th). The new vehicle is positioned as a mid-size SUV, adopting a pure electric powertrain. It offers both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options and is equipped with the Honda SENSING 360+ advanced intelligent driving system.
In terms of appearance, the GAC Honda P7 is equipped with a through-type LED light strip, giving the overall design a strong sense of technology and futurism. A large-sized blacked-out surround is installed at the lower part of the front bumper, highlighting its sporty look. The new vehicle adopts a brand-new YET brand logo, which features a Honda logo without the outer ring. In terms of dimensions, the new car has a length, width, and height of 4,750/1,930/1,625 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,930 mm.
The design of the vehicle's side is basically consistent with the Dongfeng Honda S7 that has already been launched. It features blacked-out A/B/C pillars, combined with black trim strips on the fenders and lower parts of the doors, reflecting a great sense of sportiness. Moving to the rear, the new car is equipped with a through-type taillight design, but only the C-shaped areas on both sides can be illuminated. The rear is equipped with a spoiler, and the multi-layered black rear surround design further enhances the sense of hierarchy at the back.
Regarding the interior, the new vehicle is equipped with a narrow full-LCD instrument panel and a large-sized central control screen. Configurations such as a dimmable sunroof, a rearview camera with streaming media, ambient light strips, in-car headrest speakers, and wireless charging pads are all included. Additionally, it is reported that the new car will also feature a light field screen developed in cooperation with Huawei. This technology is similar to AR-HUD and can provide a visual experience with a large picture frame, depth of field, and long viewing distance within a small space.
In terms of power, the new vehicle will offer a single-motor rear-wheel drive version and a dual-motor all-wheel drive version. The single-motor rear-wheel drive version has a maximum power of 200 kW, while the dual-motor version has a maximum power of 150 kW for the front motor and 200 kW for the rear motor. The battery is equipped with a 90 kWh ternary lithium battery pack from CATL, with CLTC ranges of 620 km and 650 km.
In terms of competitors, the GAC Honda P7 faces competition not only from its sibling model, the Dongfeng Honda S7, but also from the Tesla Model Y, which is the sales leader in the same class. Additionally, the Lido L60 and Leapmotor 7X in the same class are also potential competitors for the GAC Honda P7. Overall, the competition in the pure electric mid-size SUV market is quite fierce, and the GAC Honda P7 faces considerable competitive pressure. The specific configurations and price of the new vehicle will be key factors in its success or failure.
